M.V. Cosantóir Bradán

New addition to the INFOMAR vessel fleet.

Previously the Cosantóir Bradán had been used by Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI) as a salmon protection vessel.

She is a shallow draught 17m monohull fibreglass vessel with aluminium topsides, built in Cork by Aquastar, and normally operated by a crew of three.

The vessel has been transferred to the INFOMAR programme under a Memorandum of Understanding with IFI. This vessel was refurbished in 2012 by the team at the Geological Survey of Ireland for use as a seabed survey vessel and is equipped with a RESON 7101 multibeam echosounder system. The conversion to a survey vessel was approved by the Maritime Safety Office at the Department of Transport as of the 1st of May 2012.

The M.V. Cosantóir Bradán is well suited for near shore survey work. This is due to her shallow draft and retractable over-the-bow Multibeam Echosounder mounting frame, which also houses an Inertial Motion Reference Unit (IMU) and a Real Time Sound Velocity sensor (R/T SV).
