Donegal Pride at Sea: R.V. Mallet Charts Waters off Árainn Mhór Ahead of All-Ireland Final

As excitement builds across Donegal for the All-Ireland football Final, INFOMAR’s research vessel R.V. Mallet has been busy offshore, surveying the seabed around Árainn Mhór and proudly flying the Donegal flag on deck. Captured by filmmaker Kev L Smith (www.kevlsmith.com), the video (INFOMAR Mapping in Donegal) and image shows the vessel near Árainn Mhór Lighthouse, offering a peaceful moment along the Atlantic edge of a county brimming with energy this week.

INFOMAR is Ireland’s national seabed mapping programme, funded by the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment and jointly managed by Geological Survey Ireland and the Marine Institute. Its mission is to map the seabed of Ireland and deliver a complete bathymetric dataset to support sustainable marine management into the future.
